UGLY DUCKLING ~ a video
As a provocation to the unit of inquiry; ‘Who we are’, students watched a video – ‘Ugly Duckling’, which they enjoyed thoroughly. After that we had couple of brain storming sessions, where we asked a lot of questions like:
What were the problems the characters faced?
How did they solve these problems?
Who is your favorite character and why?
Which character don’t you like and why?
What lesson does this story teach you?
What were some of the things that were “ugly” about the “ugly duckling”? then share the things that weren't ugly.
· What were some of the things that were “beautiful” about the “ugly duckling”?
· Why did the ugly duckling run away from the farm?
· How would you handle a situation where somebody was teasing you?
· What happened to the geese the ugly duckling encountered?
· Talk about a place where you feel “accepted.”
· What other stories does this remind you of?
· How does this story relate to your own life?
· How are they different?
· How are they similar?
· Does being a beautiful swan means that the ugly duckling will
be happy? Was the ugly duckling too sensitive when reacting to others? For example: when he believed that the dog thought he was too ugly to bite, or that the children were teasing him when they just wanted to play with him. |
