Persuasive
advertisements
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
AND TUNING IN
Students
were asked to bring cut-outs of their favourite advertisements to the class. Using
K-W-L chart, teacher filled in all the information students knew about what
makes a good and an appealing ad in ‘K’ column (what I KNOW).
Students
watched a ppt – Key features of adverts. Students
were then divided into groups and did an activity describing features of their
advertisements by placing the cut-outs of ads on the table. Each table then gave
a brief presentation.
FINDING OUT
Students were shown videos of a
good ad (Cadbury’s Gorilla) and a bad
ad (Evian Roller babies) without
informing the students which ad was good or bad. Using the ‘Brainstorming key’,
they discussed to find out which one is the best ad and using ‘Disadvantages
Key’ which one is not.
Using K-W-L chart, teacher filled in the
questions of students the information they would like to know about what could
make a good and an appealing ad in ‘W’ column (what I WOULD like to know).
The
word meaning ~ PERSUASIVE
Students found out the meaning of
word “Persuasive”, by brainstorming.
This is what students themselves
came up with the meaning of “Persuasive” –
Persuasive means to convince, to
influence, to make you do it, to tempt you, to motivate etc.
They then watched a power point
presentation on ‘Persuasive Advertisement
writing’.
They came to know the key features
that makes an appealing ad which they noted down in their notebooks.
