Student initiated action
Student initiated action is one of
the essential elements of PYP learning. According to the IB mission statement, students have a
responsibility not only to improve themselves but also to improve their
communities and their world. IB schools strive to develop “inquiring,
knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more
peaceful world” and “active, compassionate and lifelong learners” (IBO Mission
Statement, 2003).
HATS OFF to the crazy bunch ~ Mehr Ummat, Mahin Sardana, Anushhka Thakur and Ishani
Patil who took the initiative to award their fellow peers for best behaviour.
All our kids are being encouraged to take up the role as monitors
and are assigned a variety of different tasks and responsibilities. So these
four took the time to observe their environment and use some strategies to
encourage kids to be more disciplined as individuals and in their attitudes towards
school. The four of them designed lovely cups, certificates and badges to be
given to those students who stood out and were also considerate to those who
didn’t by giving them a badge of encouragement.
So very well done guys!! I am
so proud of you.
