Literature discussion strategies- SKETCH TO STRETCH

SKETCH TO STRETCH

After reading a book, students made a sketch (a quick graphic/symbolic drawing) of what the story meant to them (not an illustration of the story) – their connections to the book. To their partner, they showed their sketch, letting others comment on the meanings they see in the sketch before they share their meaning. They talked about their sketches with each other and discussed the different ideas raised by the sketches.
