Resource is only a
resource unless it’s being used otherwise it’s just a source.
Students benefitted a lot from today’s
presentation on finite resources given by our senior school Principal, who’s
also an ‘ENVIRONMENTALIST’.
They were enlightened on a natural
fact that our planet earth is living as it breathes like us. They were able to
understand how a source becomes a resource.
Students were startled to know that as
babies they used 3796 diapers which is not only difficult to decompose but has
also used 715 gallons of crude oil, 1789 tonnes of plastic and has cut 4 ½ big
trees.
They realized that even eating junk
food is connected to waste a lot of trees which requires enormous amount of
packaging of boxes, paper napkins etc.
If we don’t make wise choices now for
a simple example like carpooling the oil on the earth will finish after 40
years.
EARTH IS FINITE!!
Population is growing at a staggering
rate whereas the finite resources are limited…what are we going to do now since
we have only one earth…the choice us ours!!
