A visit from a professional STORY TELLER
A love of stories is common to all young children, and by telling stories, a storyteller can really
bring the tale to life and make it a more interactive experience for the
children. Children love stories!
Sharing stories is an essential part of their development and not just for the
launch pad it offers into reading and writing. Story time is an exciting time
for children as they settle down into an expectant mood ready to have their imaginations
stimulated.
Sanjay Mutu; a professional story teller was just right for such an occasion. Every conversation of his was full of personal anecdote with a lot of
humour and every effort to explain shared values was expressed through his storytelling.
He shared two stories with humour and of course moral in each
one of them.
FIRST STORY
The Sandwich
Moral: Don’t be over-confident
SECOND STORY
A Folk tale from Nagaland
Why Nagas don’t cut fig trees
Moral: Don’t cut
trees.
At the end of this story he asked everyone to take a pledge by saying;
“I will not cut trees”.
His storytelling was engaging and motivated children to learn,
as well as stimulating an interest and skills in writing and reading. We had a
great time of fun and laughter.

BOOK FAIR
Book fair for kids is a literacy initiative that reinforces the
practical things all families can do to ensure their children become strong
readers and learners. Together, schools and families practice literacy skills
to encourage a love of reading and promote academic achievement.
There’s really no downside to a school book fair. It’s one of
the few things in life where everyone – students, parents, teachers and
booksellers – benefit.
Our students couldn’t wait to grab their bargain at the Book
Fair organised at the Atrium in our school. A sparkle in their eyes to get a
famous book of their own was a highlight of their day.
