NATIONAL DRESS DAY

Our classroom is rich with diversity. So today, under our present unit of inquiry; (Who we are) we celebrated; ‘a national dress day’. This was a great day to ensure students respect and understand each other’s differences and promote cultural pride and acceptance. Students shared about their national costumes, traditional recipes and some unique things about their culture. We celebrated different cultures like; Russian, Korean, Punjabi, Sindhi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Marathi, Bihari, and also cultures from South Indian regions & New Zealand of course. We also shared our cultural yummy food with each other. Later on, we at Grade 3z clubbed together with other sections and shared about our similarities and differences. This activity allowed students to share information about their backgrounds create better social and learning environment.

A FAMILY CREST

A family crest is an artistic symbol of one’s family's heritage. It has long been a symbol of a family's identity and values. These family crests have been passed down throughout generations. 

Creating a family crest was a wonderful challenge for our students because it encouraged kids to weigh personal values and think about how to symbolically and artistically represent them. Students came up with some great ideas and presented them by creating their very own family crests. Each one of them stood up to share with the class their story behind the crest. It was great to hear that each member of their family had made some contribution in making these memorable family crests. Well done kids!! J

As summer is about to say good-bye and winter is round the corner, it was just a perfect time for a water splash. To make the best use of it, Grade 2’s & 3’s were divided into four main houses to compete with each other. This was more of a fun and some of us did get in to the spirit of cheering up our own houses and patting the backs of our upcoming swimming champs. Students were encouraged to see all the three principals and our PYP Coordinator and Grade-level coordinator too.
