Girls day
Girls are like abstract painting.
Even though you can’t understand them, they are still beautiful.
Having a sister in your life can either be a wonderful or
terrible experience, depending on your relationship. If you have an older
sister and you are a girl, she can often show you how to navigate the way
through some of the more difficult areas of growing up. This is also true if
you are a boy. Your older sister can help explain to you how to interact with
the opposite sex. Younger sisters are a joy as well. They often worship their
older siblings and it can be a nice experience to be admired. Relationships
with sisters, like any relationship depend on the people involved.
All girls wants is to feel beautiful, be loved, and to be treated with respect.
A special
assembly at school was held to celebrate – GIRLS day.
A lovely and
heart-warming video was shown on international day of girl called – Because I
am a girl.
Teachers and girls
involved in the assembly went an extra mile to even make badges for girls and
decorated them. The badges were distributed to each class for every girl to put
it on with a sense of pride and enjoy their day.
Rhea Kapoor of Grade
4 gave a wonderful presentation talking about the importance of girl child. Well done
Rhea!!
When and why do
we celebrate Girls day?
We celebrate
Girl’s day on 2nd February and also
on the 11th of Oct to recognize the importance of equal
treatment, respect and opportunities for girls and the unique challenges girls
face in accessing education, health-care and economic opportunity.
In
2011 the United Nations General Assembly established the International Day
of the Girl.
BACKGROUND
While girls
have made significant progress in recent years, the fact remains that in many
societies, girls are still valued less than boys. Worldwide, two-thirds of
the 130 million children who are not in school are girls; more than 25,000
girls under the age of 18 are married every day, and in the developing world,
one-third of girls are married before they turn 18.
Girls
throughout the world face higher rates of violence, poverty, discrimination
Investing in
girls is a moral imperative – a matter of basic justice and equality
Support for
girls and their basic human rights is key for healthy communities.
The United
Nations is focusing on the issue of child marriage. Child marriage takes girls
away from various opportunities.
